Horned mask Dan people, Ivory Coast 14.5 inches, wood The Ziba culture from Tanzania was my first guess. Mwera, Pare, and Chaga are also possibilities. But several African specialists say it is a crudely carved Dan from the Ivory Coast, so Dan wins. The reason I bought it was because it has a great folk-art look and appears to be authentic. There are still some nails left that were used to hold an animal skin beard. Also, indentations and tar residue suggests that something was placed on or around the eye holes. $375
