Orange Bongsan Mask Hwanghae Province, Korea 13 inches, papier mache with black cotton hood There are many hundreds of different Korean folk masks. This is one of 26 different characters in the Bongsan play that is performed in Hwanghae Province. For some reason this rich diversity is rarely seen. Instead, only three masks routinely show up on the market-- the Hahoe with its articulated jaw, the Black Monk, and the White Maiden. They are nice masks to own, but there is so much more from the many provincial cultures of Korea! sold
