Q: I picked up 8 of these Masks at a estate sale. Would like to know what you think of them. All are signed but one. I do not know ofwhat material they are made. 9  x 7 inches, there seems to be some wear on nearly all of them.  Pete, 541

A: All 8 of your Japanese masks were made at the same work shop. Since I only do one Mystery Mask per person, I picked the one I liked the most. These kinds of molded composite masks are reproductions of ancient ceremonial masks that are often bought by visitors at historic shrines. The Japanese love to display them in their homes. This has been going on for well over 100 years and these kinds of reproductions have become collectible. If you would do a little research you could learn which characters each of your masks represents. It’s nice to see them all together like this.  B+
