We go to amazing places and come back with masks. Sometimes we come back with stories instead. Usually both.
Between the three of us we have trekked to Everest Base Camp, conducted original Zapotec archaeological fieldwork in Oaxaca, and sourced masks from places that don't show up on tourist maps. We built Obscure Find because serious collectors deserve better than eBay and tourist markets.
Something was found in Oaxaca.
Every piece comes with the story of how it got here. Not a product description. The actual story, where we were, what we were drinking, why this particular object stopped us cold. The film travels with the mask. The buyer gets the story.
We are adventurers, finders, and occasional troublemakers. We believe masks deserve better than a shelf. Every piece we source has danced, been carried, been worn, was just there or has been alive in a way that most objects never are. Our job is to find them, authenticate them, tell their story, and connect them with collectors who understand what that means. That's it. That's the whole thing.
So you think you might want to come along on one of these trips? You really don't want to do that. But just in case, read this first.

A snake fell out of a tree directly onto the trail. Unprompted. Completely unbothered. It had somewhere to be. We did not ask where.
A pack of dogs reached a collective decision. It was unanimous. We did not stay to observe the deliberation process.
Paula lay down on the trail in the Himalayas and made a fully informed, carefully considered decision to remain there permanently.
