Something was found in Oaxaca.

Off The Map.
Real Finds.
Short Films.

Once a month, a find comes with the full story of how it got here. Not a product description. The actual story, where we were, what we were drinking, why this particular object stopped us cold. The film travels with the mask. The buyer gets the story.

A map in this field is worthless
🎭 Ep. 01 — Oaxaca — coming soon
The first dispatch

A mountain trail.
A forgotten shop.
A box not yet opened.

We were on the Monte Albán trail, the one that winds down from the ruins through unexcavated pyramids toward Centro. After the hike, something was found.

The conversation that followed covered where it came from, who might have made it, and why it ended up in a box in a back room in Oaxaca.

Then it goes on sale. Field Verified. With provenance. And with the film attached, so whoever buys it knows exactly where it came from and who was in the room when it was found.

What Obscure Find is

Three things.
None of them a typical marketplace.

01

The Find

Every piece is sourced personally - flea markets at 7 AM, village markets, back rooms, estate sales. Nothing that hasn't been vetted and authenticated. No reproductions. No compromises on provenance.

02

The Dispatch

A short film for every piece. The conversation at the table. The context. The story of how it got there and why it matters. Not a product video. Something worth watching even if you never buy the mask.

03

The Collection

For serious collectors who want more than an object. The film travels with the mask, permanently attached to its provenance record. The buyer gets the story. That's the point.

The expedition team

The people at
the table.

Troy Yohn
Founder - Member 01 Troy Yohn Finder. Instigator. The one who wakes up at 5 AM for a flea market and considers this a reasonable life choice.
Paula
Scholar - Member 02 Paula The one who actually knows things. Co-author of Masks of the World. And somehow still finds Troy's ideas only semi-crazy.
Arantxa
Recent recruit - Member 03 Arantxa Met Troy in a boxing gym in Oaxaca. Still evaluating whether this was a good decision. The masks are interesting though.
