A: You should be okay. It’s not a real mask. And remember that masks have spiritual power only in the culture that uses them. Carvings like this are meant to be sold at airports and tourist destinations. I get a lot of pictures of these souvenirs. Most of the new owners think they have bought a “mask” that has been used in a ceremony and might be worth some money. Of course, my answer usually disappoints them. I hope you are pleased instead. This is a very cheap Indonesian carving. They don’t give it the hallmarks of any particular tribe. It’s quickly made to be sold, quickly and cheaply.
